The first day of Fall in the San Juan Islands was as if a curtain had fallen. Seldom have I seen such a dramatic contrast between Summer and Fall seasons, one day to the next. I do the van rides on the weekends at the Village at the Harbour, a swanky assisted living facility in Friday Harbor, and today started with a bang; wind, rain, and dark, dark, dark clouds.
I thought we were in for a bouncy, wet ride, but as I was loading the residents into the van there was a blue spot to the west, and as I pulled away from the building the sun had come out. Ok, the wind was still at its peak, so that decided the direction I would head; south to American Camp to watch the waves.
